ForestHills Mayor Election

ForestHills Mayor Election

Postby ABParadigm » Sun Oct 07, 2018 8:34 am

ForestHills is currently mayor-less, and that mean it needs a new mayor to run it. This is a very good way to get involved with the community!

How do you run for mayor then?

To run for mayor, you need to:

1. State your IGN (In-game name.)
2. Why you are good for the job?

Here's a quick example!

IGN: JohnSmith123

Why I'm good for the job: I believe I'm good for the job because I love to be involved in community projects, and I am an active player. I have plenty of ideas for ForestHills, and I would love to put them into reality. I have attended many council meetings, and I am open to any ideas that other players may have. I am very passionate about this, and I wish to give players a place to feel welcome in, and for all players to enjoy!

Zriends, & LVS Zamily, lend me your ears!

My name is KhasOrn in this wonderful branch of reality, but my Zriends call me Khas (you know who you are;)

I own a lovely plot of land to the left of the Iconic Forest Hills sign with a view of the valleys on either side, a view of the warp & a Wolfy in a den in the side of the hill under my farm.

Forest Hills was my first home, on my first real multiplayer server experience and thus holds a special place in my heart. There is nothing I would love more than to become the mayor of a town I hold so dear on the server I hold so dear.

I have been a part of LVS since April 2015 when the wifey bought me a Minecraft account for my birthday. I think I popped on to a couple other servers, realised quickly that I was not interested, soon ended up on LVS & sub sequentially in Forest Hills. I do not have the highest numbers in terms of hoursplayed (sometimes that strange irl place demands my attention) but I do believe the elder members of LVS may have a little trouble khasting their minds back to the pre-khastian era.

In June 2018 I petitioned the council to allow me to renovate the then unfinished Forest Hills Warp, with the intention afterwards of continuing to beautify Forest Hills by careful, mayor/council/guardian approved, pruning & or renovating of unfinished & abandoned builds. I started the LVS Pro Masons (finally receiving approval to build the LVS Pro Mason's Embassy next to the warp just a couple weeks ago) to facilitate a community vibe in this endeavour with hopes of spreading this sense of community around like an LVS probiotic if you will lol. It is still my wish to do so and to ironically quote a slightly silly person, “I am very passionate about this, and I wish to give players a place to feel welcome in, and for all players to enjoy!”

For a deeper understanding of all my plans for the LVS Pro Masons, Forest Hills, and any other warp town (defunct or active) overseers, Mayors, the Council or friendly neighbourhood Guardian that wishes to use the service, please go to the official wiki page:
https://zedwork.co.uk/wiki/LVS_Pro_Masons

I will take special care to try to keep the historical significance of this town in mind always. My intention is not to 'change' Forest Hills, but, like a treasured tree, prune the dead branches to allow fresh and healthy growth while retaining its natural beauty. Forest Hills is special in many of our hearts. I will respect that.

Please, khomrades in arms under a square sun & moon, khonsider me for Mayor of Forest Hills when you khast your vote.

I thank you khindly for your khonsideration.

Why I am good for this job: I believe that I am good for this position because I am very organised person and I know to devote myself to things that need to be done in the best way. I think that how much accounts I got just to play on this server shows how loyal am I to the server. I'm advanced at functioning of the server and council where I was elected twice and been active on all where I still had my accounts. I am always widely open for cooperation. I am ready to make Forest Hills to the best and glorious warp. I, with help of advanced, very good builder and my friend Stefuus, with his help or advice, to make Forest Hills beautiful too. I will be always open for everyone's idea. I have plenty of time to dedicate to the Forest Hills.

Hiya, I'm ThatNurd, usually known as simply Nurd.

I'm a person with organizational capabilities, a love of teamwork and a sense of being in a warm community. I've never been involved in any large community projects on the server, however if the title of FH mayor was to be cast upon me I would make sure Forest Hills would be an amazing, quality number 1.

I personally don't have a base at ForestHills, however it was the first warp I ever visited and used to be one side of a tunnel to my first ever base at a place called Domount, not sure if that tunnel is still there though. For the first 15 hours of playing on this server, on which I have now spent more time than on any other server I ever visited, I was constantly passing through Forest Hills as I maneuvered around the server, checking stuff out because I didn't get Nether access yet, which put Forest Hills in my heart. The architectural style in particular caught my attention, as the medieval style of building near the central area of Forest Hills has always played to my liking as I'm a sucker for those kinds of things :P

Now enough sucking up and time to get into the real stuff. As I said I don't really as of currently hold a real stake in Forest Hills however, as the first non-Spawn place I ever visited, I hate to see it crumble and fall under dust of inactive, dead builds whilst barely anyone still goes there, so I've put together a couple of things I would do as mayor to help boost the warp to at least have some active players:

1) Dead Builds First and foremost I would make sure to go around the town and clear out inactive builds likely by first putting up notice signs, or if the player has been offline for veeeerrryyy long likely just taking it down. Primarily this would be done in the central portion of the city, near the warp area, freeing up new space to be used.

2) Newb Houses With the newly freed area in the central portion of the town I thought of perhaps using to slightly decorate the roads in a simple manner (putting slabs on either side, putting torches along it, etc.) and then putting up a few small houses, with all the essentials needed for a start on our server, in the emptied area. These houses would primarily be aimed at newer players looking for a base in this amazing mountain town. Of course aid in this would be accepted from anyone willing to offer it however I would make sure these houses are built in the same medieval style which gives Forest Hills it's lovely charm.

Now I think this is obvious, but just to put it in writing, newer players would NOT be forced into these "newb houses", this would simply be a way for players who don't yet have all the resources for a base/think they're not good at building to use, so that those who don't have the resources have a place to stay while they gather them, and those who think they're not good at building can use to avoid any ugly, bad builds being splattered around the town. This would also make cleaning up after inactive players significantly easier, as there practically wouldn't be cleaning up after those who would opt to use these houses aside from clearing the chests and such.

3) All Roads lead to Forest Hills As one of the older warp towns, Forest Hills itself straddles a relatively large area, not to mention the many bases nearby and around the town. So to make transportation here easier and perhaps allow players who do not yet have portals/do not wish to have them for whatever reason get around easier I would first renovate the seemingly dead Forest Hills train station and try and see if any players with bases nearby would like to connect themselves to an overworld system of railways and later on likely ice boat tracks as well, which would all come together in the Forest Hills train station.

As part of this transportation reform I would also, as stated previously, try do decorate the road system a bit, since it's mostly just a stone brick pathway, just for aesthetic purposes, so it isn't just stone bricks on the floor.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now these are just some of my ideas for what to do with Forest Hills if I am chosen for the position. There's a few more ideas as of currently though I think this post is long enough already, and I'm sure if I'm chosen even more will come with time, but one thing is certain, I'll try my hardest to make sure Forest Hills doesn't die on the operating table.

So with that, I would like to wish my fellow candidates good luck and may the best of us win the position!
