From Feb 4th, we're going to be able to change our minecraft usernames at account dot mojang dot com slash me. You can change once every 30 days.

Why is this in suggestions? I thought it would be a good idea to have a place where people could post to say, "Hey, I changed my name from bluh to blah! But it's still me!"

I suggest a simple format which makes it easy to read through lots of posts at once, something like:

My old name was: oldname

My new name is: newname

It would probably be a good idea not to do any posts like, "oh cool I'm gonna change mine to bluh" until you've actually done it, just in case bluh is already taken, or in case someone else takes it before you!

Whilst you're posting these here, please also state if you would like your forum account name changed to your new MC name.

You do realize that you can't change your username to one that's already taken right? I don't think you'll just be able to remove the numbers!

Many names were taken up my non-premium accounts, Mojang are now allowing Premium account holders to change their names to any names held by non-premium accounts. So lots of the names registered early, but never paid for, are now free to be taken by paying customers. Memery and Sneaky have successfully changed their names to the above
