[LVS] Council Pre-Meeting Agenda (17th June)

HelIo!
I'd like to introduce a new format of pre-meeting agenda. Since the pre-meeting agenda is the only place to post apologies I think it should be posted as soon as a new host is announced.
It might be an idea for the scribe of the meeting to post the next meeting's agenda. That way it is done quickly, AND then they can add a link to the council notes on the forum once they are uploaded.

Soooo I think this is how the format should look:

EXAMPLE:
Subject of post: [LVS] Council Pre-Meeting Agenda (17th June)
The Post:
Next meeting will be hosted by Haztec, If you cannot make it please post your apologies below.

Link to previous meeting notes: https://zedwork.co.uk/wiki/Zedling_Coun ... 2017-06-03
(This can be left blank and added once the notes are finished)

Looking forward to seeing you all there!

END OF EXAMPLE

This can be confirmed at the next meeting! For now though, post your absences here and we can go from there!

I have a topic that I would like to bring up (I should be attending):

AFK rules. I remember getting told that no AFK is allowed at all. And people still seem to do it (Fish farm is the general trick. If it is still the case, it needs to be a main rule. I have no issues with people AFKing, but if it officially allowed, then everyone will do it.

If AFKing is not allowed, then perhaps better logic for the autokick? Get the location (and the direction they are looking) of each player every 5 minutes and if they haven't moved more than 10 blocks for the 10/20 mins and are looking in the same spot, then they get kicked. One exception is for long minecart trips. I'm pretty certain it would be possible, out of command blocks, perhaps not so easy, but I think it would help enforce the rule.

Fish farms usually and hopefully are for a personal gain, The issue I have is people making massive mob farms then sitting and afking for hours on end to get mob drops, selling said mob drops to earn a profit. Ok they've put effort in to make the farm but then sitting and doing nothing to rack in profit is a little iffy. For the longest time I was told abusing the AFK kicker was against the rules, I reported someone multiple times for doing it and yet nothing was ever done about, then more and more people started doing it, so i assume that the greens have given up on it being a rule.

After joining I was informed that it was not an enforced rule, and since have indeed been doing some afk sessions now and then, granted I try not to abuse it or, if I do sell some off it, not sell most of it (i.e., keep most of my gunpowder for tnt and/or rockets). Since then I have heard various accounts of it used to be against the rules, of which I have no idea as I joined late February of this year. I do agree some clarification of this rule would be sufficient, whether it is nullification entirely or specific notes within it such as certain afk-able structures may or not be allowed.

As for fish farms (since they seem more hot-button as it's a more blatant anti-kick) they are OP but who is really using it for anything other than unlimited food at this point in the endgame? Once you do get villagers it's not worth keeping anything other than maybe the name tags.

I don't know what the rules were or do I feel entitled to explain what they should be but from a personal level there really isn't that much harm being done, especially because the periodic reboots easily stop the 12-hour people.

That's just my take on it, I will naturally discuss more at the meeting but I had a feeling all my thoughts wouldn't come out right in chat, at that moment, lol.

Wooot!! Discussion on the agenda ftw.

I am currently locked out of my minecraft account, and Mojang's customer service dept seems unlikely to get to me before next week, at best. Already suffering withdrawal symptoms. :J

First, I agree that some clarification of the standard is appropriate, however.. I would like to point out that IF we are allowed to AFK doesn't automatically mean all players will choose to do so.

Secondly, I would like to point out that it is possible for someone to be standing in one place looking at one thing for several minutes while actively playing; they could be engrossed in chat, they could be crafting bunches and bunches of nether brick from shulker boxes and the check just happened to catch them twice with their face in a crafting table, y'know what? they might even be fishing manually. I'd say that possible explanation is rare, surely, but... just want to point it out.

I admit to a selfish motivation to keep the AFK to a minimum so it doesn't muddy up the hours played. But I'm not the least bit competitive or anything :J I do think it most important to police the zookies AFK'ing as I feel that makes our "we rely on trust" community safer.

Having said all that, I encourage all to remember that Zed and LB have a life outside of Zedwork, and may not be able to catch all offenders. And, it's even possible that what looks like afk to us in the chat, may not be afk at all.
