Over a year in the making, Dungeon Dash is finally entering the zestygame lineup and will be able to be hosted by everyone (yes that means you) for this weekend only. Dare you enter into the dungeon to claim the loot within?

For those of you who havn't heard of this game, it is a procedurally generated dungeon crawler where a team of up to 4 players raids a gigantic crypt full of creatures most vile. Pick a class at the start and gain stat changes and a powerful ability you can use at any time (cooldown permitting) and then venture forth! Expect terrifying monsters, epic loot, traps and the occasional puzzle.

Check out the wiki article for information on the classes. https://zedwork.co.uk/wiki/Dungeon_Dash

I will be giving out a 12 diamond block prize (on LVS because on Zz i'm poor) to the team with the fastest time! Screenshot your score at the end of the game and post it on here!

Current Record: 2 hours and 5 minutes by ABP and Dogzack.

While I expect it will be stable minor issues may of course crop up, screenshots of these would be very helpful.

Zed told us to give feedback, so here's my feedback.

Vitgone hosted a game after Zedkins so we jumped onto that with 4 people.

Unfortunalty one had to go early and another one a bit later into the game, so it was down to me and lone_wolf.

First off, we were not able to complete the game since at like 30 ? minutes lone disconnected due to computer issues and the game was closed on me.
And after that, we didn't feel like re-playing all that.

So instead i'll post what I think so far, fresh after my first game, but keep in mind that I wasn't able to complete the game.

(contains spoilers)

  • Game length. It was not clear to us that the game would take more than 30 minutes so that's why half the team had to leave early. A time estimate somewhere might be good? "Dungeon Dash" implies a fast game, while it was more like a dungeon marathon. It's not bad but it's unexpected.
  • It took me a bit to understand the game and it's mechanics, that it's basically build like RPG dungeons like in TES ect. Might be more confusing if someone's not familiar with their structure and concept.
  • Maybe more explanation what the game exactly is in the beginning? I mean I like the Adventurer's Guild thing but it was a bit too much for the first time and it didn't help that a teammate dashed forward and pressed the start without me having time to look around proper.
  • The dungeon design itself. Some parts were a bit confusing but after a while I got a bit more used to it. it was guiding enough that you know that you haven't found the way yet, without being too linear. Might be nice to explain that you look for the golden doors to a newbie. I still found it too dark at places, where i was barely able to see and that's in a dark room without lights! I felt like it got a bit too repetitive, but maybe I just got a bit bored by the darkness and that i didn't know how long it'd take, because objectively there were nice elements like the guardian hall ect.
  • I LOVE the enemy design. Different enemies, and the bosses were pretty cool. Although parts felt a bit ... disconnected? the giant magma cube was cool but a bit random? That white ghost dude took me by surprise. I actually expected Draugrs to come around the corner :D
  • The Limbo was very confusing at first. It was still pretty random how fast I found the portal and once or twice i spawned right next to it. Very easy to get lost. Maybe have a guide after a set amount of time?
  • It was very annoying when the game just randomly ended? I think it was because I was the only one? not really sure what happend there though. Maybe a bug?

So yeah, personally I'm not too keen to have to replay the 30 or more minutes soon, tbh. Maybe multiple smaller dungeons would have been nice? But I also think that frustration point would have been avoided if I'd known from the get-go how much time i have to commit.

For what it is, it was a really great experience! You really put a lot of thought and work in the design and it shows! Just personally, I don't think it has a lot of re-playability? I mean, there are people out there who like to do the same dungeon/raid all over again for more points/a higher score/a faster time... But I don't think I'm one of them.

There's probably tons of typos and bad grammar and all that in this, sorry for that. Hope it still helps?

Yeah as Treis said it was really fun but was a bit longer than I thought it would be. I wish my laptop didn't power off half way through as I would have liked to finish it. Over all I think it is really fun and basically everything Treis said.
