Minecraft 1.15 & ZestyLand

Minecraft 1.15 has been released, and a 1.15.1 is on the way to fix some critical issues with this update. We will be waiting to update LVS until after 1.15.1, as at-least one of the issues involves upgrading a world from 1.14 to 1.15. And Zz will of course follow once all plugins are 1.15-compatible.

Alas, there will be no honey for our Christmas Meal on Sunday. :(

Zestyland is back online, and running Minecraft 1.15: Buzzy Bees! If you've got an active Zesty Subscription, you can now head over to ZestyLand via the Zesty coloured portal in the lobby, or connect directly at mc.zedwork.co.uk:25566

ZestyLand will be running the latest spigot build, and serve as a minor test-bed for some plugins. It currently has ParrotGlue, which sticks parrots to you shoulder so they don't fall off with every jump, and BookLibrary, which allows reading written books in item frames.

LVS will be upgrading to 1.15.1 on Thursday the 16th of January.

As far as I can tell the only major outstanding issues are only about as bad as the existing issues in 1.14.4 which they relate to or replace, and there are no impending updates to resolve them in the near future. Hopefully we'll see no sign of these issues, just as we have not in 1.14.4 so far.

The upgrade process will likely take several hours, as the world format has changed again in 1.15+ to provide support for 3-dimensional biomes. As a result of this world format change, the borders of existing biomes will likely shift a little (up to 4 blocks, I believe)

I've heard from a couple of players that the biome borders changing will likely cause them issues with their farms/areas.

There is nothing I can do to reduce the impact of this change, so I will provide a link to an issue describing this change on Mojang's bug tracker so you can try to prepare for it yourselves. There are 2 comparison images on the issue for you to see how biome borders might change between 1.14.4 and 1.15.1.

LVS is now online and running 1.15.1!

Coming up in 1.15.2, bee nests will be renewable. They will be able to generate in old chunks as a chance if a flower is within a couple of blocks of a tree when it grows. Therefore I suggest you wait before heading out to look for bees, and save any fresh and unexplored chunks you know of for other content from future updates which may be less renewable.

There are some other recipe and mechanic changes in this update for you to check out, if you decide to wait for bees. Read more on the MC wiki:

That’s so cool!
What about new nether biomes? Should we start exploring distant nether regions to find them?

Air, the nether biomes weren't implemented yet and won't be until the 1.16 update - that being said, when we get there, you probably won't need to travel all that far to find the new biomes. There is so much terrain in the nether that hasn't been touched it's crazy.

Zz will update to 1.15.1 on Monday the 20th of January!

ZestyLand has gained a few more of Zz's selection of plugins, if you have access to ZestyLand as a Zesty Subscriber I encourage you to test these out with the new features of the update. All existing functionality should be working fine, however some of the new content may not be properly supported. I am particularly interested in hearing how you get on with the following:

  • bees, bees nest and beehives within someone else's claim; are they adequately protected?
  • natural bee hives connected to trees; do they interfere with the tree falling? Should the bee hives also have gravity applied? Should knocking their bee hives out of a tree make bees a bit angry? :S
  • honey blocks, pistons and land claims; are these new blocks exploitable to modify blocks in someone else's claim?

ZestyLand Changelog
  • Added region posts
  • Add land claims
  • Added AgreedPvP
  • Added /glow and /glowup
  • Added gravity to trees
