The Dark City Rising
Posted: Wed Apr 24, 2013 3:04 pm
Greetings, everyone. A few friends and myself have teamed up to continue construction of a castle/city combination known as Sshamath, the Dark City. Whereas other cities and towns that we have encountered have a distinctively orderly organization, the Dark City will be more a hodgepodge of housing, entertainment venues, and an intimidating citadel. Current planned features for the city are as follows:
Slums
Functional housing
Limited protection by the Citadel
Portside
Functioning Tavern
Functioning Casino
Functioning Boating/Fishing area and appropriate market
Middle-class homes, upper-middle class homes on seafront property
Affordable rooms for rent
The Quarry
Cheap, functional housing
Ready access to ores and minerals
Continually evolving atmosphere
The Mill
Affordable yet comfortable housing
Lumber and woodworking shop
Exotic food farms and shop
The Cloud Disctrict
Upper-class homes
Open-air market
Citizenship granted via application only
The Ivory Road
Citizenship granted by invitation only
Upper-class housing
Astounding views
Within sight of the citadel gates
Special, volunteer jobs/quests by the Lords of Sshamath. Service to the city guarantees permanent citizenship
The Citadel
Luxury apartments
Seaside view
Observatory
Conservatory
Study
Functioning kitchen
Library
Guest rooms bookable by the week or month
All your survival needs accomodated; crafting benches, enchantment tables, complimentary food and beverages
Within the Citadel's well-instituted defensive borders
While the Dark City wishes to accomodate everyone, we also understand that even though you may not want to live here, you may wish to visit. Thus, it is with dubious pride that we would also like to put forth the following:
The Obsidian Bloodworks
Located deep beneath the mountain-citadel of Sshamath, the Obsidian Bloodworks is to be both an entertainment venue and a location to exact violent revenge. Blood-sport of all varieties will grace the Bloodworks, with entertainment promising such potential games as:
Bludgeonball A team-based or free-for-all event, Bludgeonball involves scoring via thrown object, similar to basketball, with a caveat; Everyone has wooden swords and no armor. Beat your friends or enemies with a stick in this fast-paced game of skill!
Rampage A free-for-all event, Rampage is the stuff of Legends. Sign up, enter our automated Random Armorer chamber and see how well you can hold your own against both fate and your fellow players! Weapons range from wood to diamond, armor from Leather to Gold.
Chaos A free-for-all event, bring your best gear (That you're willing to possibly lose!) and test your mettle against up to eight fellow players! Semi-automated triggers in the Bloodworks will dispense random, potentially helpful (but mostly harmful!) effects such as TNT-cannons, magma-falls, pitfall traps, enchanted weapons and/or armor, or potions! This is a Winner Take All event; To the victor go the spoils of war!
Game of Stones Not interested in bloodsport, but want to get involved? Have no fear! The Game of Stones is a maze-based entertainment venue. Navigate your way through the maze either cooperatively or individually, using only your wits and the stone gear you're packing! Beware, however. Make the wrong move and you might unintentionally release the Fiend of Sshamath! If you do, you had better prepare for one long fight, or one long sprint!
King's Blade King of the Hill seems to be less fun when the hills are squares and the squares are easily broken. Therefore, we present King's Blade! One Diamond Sword is randomly granted to one participant; all the rest have nothing but sticks! Slay the king and raise the blade over your fallen foes, and you keep both the blade, and half of the proceeds of the fight!
NOTE: All games, unless promotional, are pay-to-play. Details will follow in subsequent posts, but Iron and Gold are the two currently considered forms of currency.
The Dark City of Sshamath is currently a work in progress, just finishing up the first stage of construction. However, if there is sufficient interest, we look forward to bringing this less-than-honorable, yet more-than-expected city to you, the Zedwork community. Input and feedback would be wonderful, and we'd love to keep the admins/devs as up to speed as possible regarding our work. If you have any questions, feel free to speak ingame to Legendary Bruno.
(In particular, I'd like to make sure that the Bloodworks is viable via the Administrators and owners; if not, the events can be held at night to comply with server PVP rules.)
Thank you all for your time and patience. We look forward to bringing you more content as soon as possible.
