SQUID FARM IDEA (AKA SAVE THE SQUIDS!)

We need to spawn in a Squid spawner to make inksacs, free and accessible for the whole server. Yes it'd be semi-breaking vanilla but i's for a good cause. PLEASE EVERYBODY SAVE THE SQUIDS!!!!!

i agree with this idea. squids don't spawn very often (if at all) and this would be beneficial to the players. one addition i would make is that you would buy them for a certain price

Of course the spawn rates in the videos are completely unrealistic because there'd have to be absolutely no water within 128 blocks of any online player. Besides, do you really need a double chest of ink sacks every hour?
I can't accurately estimate what spawn rates would be like on zedwork, but whatever it is it should be more than enough considering the farm would be running non-stop whenever you're online, and its not like ink sacks are that useful anyway.

i beg to disagree. i can name MANY uses for ink sacks:

black glass
black wool
black clay
banners with a black design
black leather armor
dark prismarine
black shields (soon)
making grey dye

and the squid farm idea is bad. i already tried it and the spawn rates don't work well with it. a spawner would be far more effective

Yes, it would be much faster; but squid-spawner blocks cannot be legitimately obtained in survival. I think it is very unlikely that Zedwick or the community would support cheating one in. I still believe a squid farm is the best choice.

An alternative solution is to put your main base in an ocean biome and kill squids every time you see them near the surface; this provides enough ink sacs for my needs, but it sounds like it might not be enough for you :\

As someone who currently lives in an ocean biome I can say that it doesn't matter. I never see any either.

Trade deals with Zz maybe?
