A whole new world?

As I'm sure you can guess, I think a new world on the ZZ server could be really fun! It would make everyone start again, especially because newer players can have a chance not to be 'noobs' and everyone could be equal. A new base, new farms, new end, new islands... Everything! Everyone would have to start again on diamonds, emeralds, iron, etc. I don't know if this is feasible, or even would be an idiotic idea, I just think it would be fun.
Please think about it?

I've thought to myself about Zedwork having a third server. LVS is very old and there are some things missing or lacking - Woodland Mansions. Even ZZ is oldish.
I've asked zed in the past about a potential modded server but he said he'd need to find a really good balanced set of mods so it wouldn't get boring or the world wouldn't be eaten quickly.

I agree; a modded server would indeed be nice. I know that balancing mods is a difficult task, though, hence have not pushed my opinion on the subject to Zedwick. If I may, though, I have experienced a relatively balanced mod pack from the first modded server I played on, that has since been taken down. The list of mods are:
Tinkers Construct 1.7.10
https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projec ... es/2216764Pam's Harvest Craft 1.7.10
https://mods.curse.com/mc-mods/minecraf ... ft/2233399Mr. Crayfish Furniture 1.7.10
https://mods.curse.com/mc-mods/minecraf ... od/2221679Railcraft 1.7.10
https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projec ... raft/filesChisel 1.7.10
https://mods.curse.com/mc-mods/minecraft/235279-chiselDecocraft 1.7.10
https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projec ... aft2/filesCarpenter Blocks 1.7.10
http://www.carpentersblocks.com/downloads.htmlBackpacks 1.7.10
http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/ma ... ks-v-3-0-1Cooking for Blockheads 1.7.10
http://file-minecraft.com/cooking-for-blockheads-mod/Better Storage 1.7.10
https://mods.curse.com/mc-mods/minecraf ... ge/2248061Storage Drawers 1.7.10
https://mods.curse.com/mc-mods/minecraf ... rs/2313060Mantel 1.7.10
https://mods.curse.com/mc-mods/minecraft/mantle/2264244I should add that this mod pack was set in 1.7.10. I have been talking with Sway, and he suggests a mod called El Futurm, which will add items we don't have in 1.7.10, i.e. Elytra and Shulker boxes. I will add that adding El Futurm will likely nullify the backpacks in the backpacks mod, however some random mobs carry backpacks and will drop it and items inside upon being defeated.
I know that you have been having trouble balancing mods Zedwick, I would suggest giving this mod-pack a go. I can assure you I didn't pull it from the internet, you can call it the Z-pack for all intents and purposes. LOL

It is very unlikely that we will be resetting either world any time soon, would prefer to work towards a sustainable way to refresh land and incorporate new features without forcing all players to start a new by destroying all the projects they've worked hard on over the last 5 years.
With regards to running a modded server, I would most likely not run an outdated version of Minecraft. I know some mod makers refuse to update their mods beyond 1.7.10 or 1.8, but there are plenty who keep their mods properly up to date; I would focus on a modern modded Minecraft server

I agree, a more recent modded server would be much easier, especially due to the lobby and both servers running on the latest version of Minecraft. I figured a more detailed mod report would be good though. Even if you don't use those specific mods, it may be a good starting point. I hope a modded server does become a thing, I know I don't like mods too much but it is only because I never got too far into them. I feel a modded server would also provide a great break from the rarely-changing, all-to-easy (I wish I did, but I know many others find it easy, LOL) typical vanilla survival. If I may request, if you do consider this being a legitimate, realistic, all-new survival-based Zedwork server please consider adding tinkers construct into it, no matter what other mods you input. Partially a personal thing, I will always love my Manyullyn cleaver, LOL, but I also believe it adds just enough tool and armor variance into the game, and other hunt-y/grind-y tasks to make the perfect mod for survival. Mind you, I'm pretty sure tinkers construct (goes by tinkers construct 2, now) is still updated, but if it isn't I'm fully prepared to look like and idiot. LOL
If you need a guinea pig for any reason with this idea, please give me a call. I really would enjoy seeing this. Would also like to thank KBizzle10 for even submitting this post, I think I almost posted this same topic a few dozen times before I told myself "Nah, it's been suggested before."

The biggest problem with more modern minecraft mod packs, is even the smaller ones will really throttle a computer to it's max. Which'll really limit any sort of chance of it getting a decent player support.

I had decided that a modded Zedwork server would start out simple, and gradually introduce new mods and tweak existing ones. This approach would greatly help to avoid bloat and better balance things. For example starting out with just Chisel & Bits, I would love to see a world populated with custom blocks designed (and sold?) by members of our community.
Don't get too excited about the idea though, I've had lists of potential mods for a modded server stored in my notes for a long time now. I'm currently busy with other projects, and am kinda waiting on sponge to mature (though it has certainly come a long way).

Chisel and bits is a very laggy mod. but I do like the idea of potentially having the community voting on potential new mods.

A modded server sounds great and if you want a good mod to add thats 1.10.2 maybe higher mystical agriculture and extra utilities are always good.
