I got banned for griefing but I never griefed.

I just made a Minecraft account yesterday and my friends told me about the Zedwork Server. I got on the server and a I played for a long time with my friends. I did get permission from my friends to use there stuff that were in their chests. Then I walked around spawn and opened about 4 chest but I never took anything. So I tried to get back on the server today and it said that I got banned for grief. What should I do? Also, what did I actually do?

My friends give me permission to break and rebuild/remodel the blocks an structures they have. Are you talking about the blocks near spawn?
