I have an Idea on Mobgrief

Hello Z. Its about the game rule Mobgrief. You could protect spawn by using a check for player in the spawn radius. Then use that to change the game rule if anyone is in spawn. Its not ideal but no-one actually lives in spawn any more. You could keep this loaded by using more command blocks to create a command block chunk loader in the spawn chunks which I presume are at spawn? Then to reset the game rule once the first command block detects no players connect that to a timer that activates another command block that changes the game rule back. That way we could have game rule MobGrief on unless there are players at spawn, which I think is a large majority of the time. Then those that want to manipulate mob grief could the majority of the time. Thoughts?

I could also just do this for if any player with less than 15 hours is online. My issue here is that I wouldn't want the game mechanics to change seemingly at random for everyone. Players might expect creepers to not damage their stuff, but the new player had left without them noticing. There'd also be the "new guy, can you log off for a minite? I'm trying to use my wither tree farm" or whatever it might be that the new player is stopping from working.

I think whatever the solution is, it has to be a uniform experience at all times. Creepers have to break/not break blocks, villagers have to be able/not able to farm etc.

I understand the uniformity argument. My argument is that if all players accepted that creepers would blow up builds then the time a new player was at spawn would be a bonus? As for the wither tree farm, wouldn't players who wanted mob grief to take advantage of the true vanilla game mechanics realise why it wasn't working for the time that a new player was at spawn or someone went to the market. This would be a far smaller disadvantage than it is now. Its my experience that there is a good level of friendly communication on your server between honest players old or new. They are helpful and I think it wouldn't be long before it became a thing that they would say "OK mob grief is gonna be on while I pass through spawn". As for the new player argument, as a new player myself (Less than 50 hours) it seems to me that over 90% of new players are banned in under 5 minutes for stealing or breaking things. In a community such as this I cant see them actually "creeper leading" any creepers into any builds since they are unable to follow even basic rules for long enough to stay on the server.
Thoughts?

Creeper leading will also happen by accident as well. If I went to look at a build, a creeper could sneak up on me and blow it up. I think this would be the major problem with turning it on. Withers would unleash catacysmic destruction if summoned in the wrong place, but I'm sure people who have farmed for thier skulls know what they can do. Although if mobgreif is changed please tell us, lots of people nowadays are complacent with thier wither fighting, doing so in thier basement or living room. This would end in tears.

Command blocks might be able to solve the problem, and I'm trying to learn how to use them with the hope of investigating the creeper issue. But i'll be surprised if zed doesn't beat me to it, considering i'm a complete novice unleashing massive destruction on a peaceful land with newfound godlike powers.
