Great! I appreciate the ideas. Some of which I think would work well within the Forest Hills and some that I don't think would work well.
Some that don't work right now:
- Nether Hub: The Netherhub is made and maintained by Zriends and thus cannot be change by me. If there is a wish for improved Netherhub, I can bring it up with one of the trusted ones. If so, please point out what you think should be changed and why.
- New town rank - Secretary: Currently there aren't much suggestions on how to improve Forest Hills (with the exception of you. Thanks!), those that have suggestions usually bring them up with me ingame or with one of the zriends or Zedwick/LadyBountiful. Maybe, if the need arises, it would be wise, but for now I don't think it would make any difference.
- Strict theme for buildings within X block of warp: I think that would work well if you started a new warp with a specific theme set in mind. For Forest Hills, not only would you need permission from the various people who live within that radius but also you might alienate players that don't think or feel like you do. Correct me If I'm wrong here people.
-Town council: Discussing is important. Its the only way to learn and broaden your perspective. But an actual council sounds a bit to much. Id love to discuss ideas with you but having everyone come together as an official council seems almost theatrical. Not to mention the fact that it would, in a way, rival the server council. Something I really don't want.
Some that seems good:
- Town build team: Sounds great. If there are a bunch of players that want to help build something, I think it sounds good.
- Clear city center: I agree that the center of the village seems a bit tight and crowded. Most players entering the warp never sees the rule board. So recreating the warp area into a brand new city center seems like a great idea. We just have to agree on what needs to be there.
- Cords of clear areas at spawn: I think this is a somewhat good idea. The idea has always been that one should just follow the roads and they would get into open areas. But signs of where open areas are, is a good idea.
- More events!: Love it! Just need to organize it somehow
-Bring in community feedback: I agree that I need all the feedback there is. If anyone has any ideas on how to improve Forest Hills or has any thoughts on the things brought up here, make sure you are heard.
-Creating new plots in the purple area: There are lots of small areas like these that could be used by players. Problem usually are one of the following: Location. The location isn't adequate for the player, they feel they want bigger/flatter/closer/further away etc. Also, finding it on their own usually is a problem. I think the putting down the work for getting these areas player ready seems like a great Idea, but we also need to make sure that the players find their way there.
-Direction poles and decorations: I like it! I also would love if it had street lights instead of torches everywhere. Feel free to give me design suggestions.
-Roads to other towns: I think that if there is another city close to the Forest Hills, Its a good idea. Otherwise it seems like a lot of work for no payoff. However, roads are a thing that I have been trying to fix for the town. It needs more roads going "out" of Forest Hills. To many ends up in dead ends or a mountain. Dig tunnels, build bridges etc. is whats needed.
Some that needs clarifying:
- Districts: Although I like having things organized, I don't understand what you mean? Do you suggest a border around FH or do you want to the different areas to have different name codes? Either way, its hard to do that since the village is expanding every so often and it wasn't built for being in districts. Forest Hills was build around a single point, and then expanded in circles (Block circles) around that point. Whenever there was hindering terrain, it was either removed or built around.
- Clear unused builds: Yes and no. This is one of the harder topics. I think that buildings that get started by new players and left unfinished (that can't even be called a building) should be removed, after the proper two weeks warning. However, as to finished buildings left by players that are no longer being used I'm just not sure if its a good idea. See the city is filled with buildings that no longer are being used. Either because the player moved on to another place or because the player is no longer playing on the server. And If we were to remove all those buildings, we would be left with a city without buildings. Also, where does one draw the line? If a player hasn't been on for a year? 6 month? 3 month? Well, Im not sure. And that's why it hasn't happened yet.
- Server market: The server already has a market. Its easy access in spawn. However, If people feel like setting up shops in Forest Hills, I see no reason why not. However it might need some clarification. Do you mean a building for nothing but setting up shops or?
- better infrastructure on how the warp runs: Hmm, I'm not sure what you mean here? Feel free to clarify
- Work on a new spawn area for Forest Hills (If Zed will move it): Although I like the idea of a new city center, I'm not sure where you think it should be moved? Also If its moved far enough, one might as well start a new warp?
- A new Community center/town hall: Seems like a good idea but I think it needs to be discussed further what should go in there. Things like market, farm and storage aren't necessary and I feel they would just be left there, gathering dust.
- Spleef Arena or jumping coarse: Spleef is being made by Zedwick for donating players to host at will. So that seems unnecessary. Jumping coarse or parkour areas sounds fine, but it needs to be well executed or it will just be blocks floating through the air.
Lastly, I wanna thank you two for helping me with this. Send me more suggestions and If you think I'm wrong in any of the above points, please say so. I'm not perfect and I'm not always right.
May the Forseth be with you
