Dax wanted to let everyone know that he was stepping down as Swamp mayor. After several years of doing pretty much nothing, he decided to see if anyone else wanted a go. I then asked if mayors were really needed in discontinued warps. Spec told me to shut up because we were making good time and take it to the forums. So I did, feel free to jump into the discussion [https://zedwork.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2737 here].

First things first, Memery instructed everyone to remove their armour (an historic oft-forgotten tradition). This, combined with ABP giving me healing and fire res potions before the event made me question the safety of the meeting, though we made it though the meeting with only 1 death a timid affair, really

Topics

I - Inactive Warp Mayors - Memery

Following on from last meeting, where Dax's resignation of swamp mayoralty was finally accepted, a merry discussion was had on the pre-meeting agenda. Do inactive warps need mayors? Probably not.

Perhaps inspired by mem's call to historicity, we revived a council tradition of talking a thing into circles for 20 minutes. People were concerned that if a warp was turned over to the responsibility of The Council (as is technically the case), it would invariably become 'nobody's job'. It was decided that it should be Somebody's Job, but that the Somebody shouldn't be a Mayor because we had decided that a Mayor wasn't needed, but instead a Somebody who would look after warps in a way that a Mayor wasn't, because a Mayor would only look after one warp whereas a Somebody could be somebody to multiple bodies, while not being a Nobody /or/ a Mayor. And we didn't need a Nobody or a Mayor, but a Somebody - a caretaker of all the inactive warps. I hope that helped

Some people (not to be confused with Somebody, Nobody or Mayors) discussed voting, or sending it to the forums, but our gallant host wished to bring a firm conclusion to the proceedings, as it had been fermenting in the forum for two weeks.
It was about there that I volunteered to do it because I live in one of the two inactive warps already. People agreed with that and so now that's a thing! Do you have an issue in Jungle/Swamp? Come see me about it!
The wiki is also going to be updated with information about this
Sneaky also announced that he will remain mayor of Ex Hills (soon-to-be removed from the spawn warps) and he has plans in the future for the warp!

II - Zoomy Boomies - ABParadigm

Inspired by lone wolf's halloween firework display on ZZ, ABP wants to do the same thing on LVS! Can't let Zedkins
think they do the best explosions now, can we?

He asked whether it would be possible to set up redstone hopper clocks for a fancy automated show at spawn, in a way that wouldn't destroy the magic that is command blocks.
Zed seemed to be completely afk, even gaining the achievement from killing a blaze while standing completely still (Equal parts impressive and scary, given Mem had already asked everyone to remove their armour). Eventually he was brought back to focus by several council members creeping up on him.

Zed said it shouldn't be an issue to do a pretty display in spawn, and directed ABP to liaise with LadyBountiful (who controls spawn).

Fireworks, date TBD! Watch this space! (Not this one specifically, but, yknow-)

III - Events! (x many) - Zedwick

Zed announced a whole glut of cool zedly upcomings for the server. He also explained that he'll put some kinda calendar on the website so we can keep track of the madness!

Sunday 19th - TOMORROW - ZestyGames Party - Starts 4PM GMT
Spleef and Cuberunner have been added back to the zesty lineup, so Zed is wanting folk to come on down and try them out. Also up for the playage is a "brand new superfun rarely ever seen zestygame", and maybe a couple of other games that are in the works! Zest til you drop!

Sunday 26th - BUILDOFF! - 4PM-9PM GMT
Our standard Buildoff instalment is back, theme will be announced at the time but Zed says it is a 'super interesting' theme

Sunday 3rd - casual BUILDOFF! -4PM-9PM GMT
Inspired by the bigly successful 'carve your own pumpkin' event, we're invited to 'build your own tree'!
This will not be judged, and is just for some happy tree-building fun. Also, zed is looking to steal tree build ideas for a mysterious reason that certainly won't be revealed from context shortly

Sunday 10th - UXC! - 6pm GMT
Will Sneaky make it lucky number 7th, or will someone manage to topple his crown? Will we get another occasion like three people on stone pillars with no bows and arrows, staring impotently at eachother? Only time will tell!

Sunday 17th - CASUAL BUILD-OFF - 4pm-9pm GMT
Another no-judgement-just-fun build-off, this time you get to decorate your own tree. There will be some standard christmas-tree-types, as well as some other trees Zed will appropriate somehow (Who knows from where?)

Sunday 24th - CHRISTMAS EVE EVENT
Event and time TBC. Do you have a fun idea for a christmas eve event? Let zed know! If nothing else we may get another casual build-off!

Date TBC - Christmas Meal
Zed wanted to replicate last year's successful christmas meal (With Mem regaling everyone of his reverse strip tease).
He suggested a date of the 27th until four people immediately explained they weren't available. So, date TBC!

Sunday 31st (NYE) - BUILDOFF! - 4pm-9pm
A Proper Judged Build-Off to bring us slightly closer to the new year. Theme TBC!

One of the suggested christmas events was a Secret Santa. Several people seemed very excited by this, with Zed inviting someone to start it up. ABP took up this mantle and is posting on the forum about it. Do you wanna secretly give a gift to people? Look at his post!

IV - Nominations/Next Meeting/New Warp!

EliasRipley was voted in as our newest council member, and also agreed to host our next meeting, which will take place in two weeks.

We then all scurried off with Aravero and EmpressBethany to witness the opening of Warp X, now called River Bend. And boy do we recommend having a look - step on the warp at spawn or take the ice path from its nether hub connection (brick border, to the right of the End).

With pathways and bridges meandering around the natural terrain of extreme hills, birch forest, river and roofed forest, topped off with meticulous designs, both in overworld and its brand new nether hub, it's easily the most picturesque warp of the lot. A lot of work has clearly gone into this and it shows in the best way. The build rules ask for no medieval or ultra-modern builds, no underground bases and to 'experiment'. Public amenities include a tree farm and stripmine.
Have a look today! Any queries, ask Mayor and Co-Mayor Aravero and EmpressBethany
