Concept
The idea of Zen is, to build a town that is governed by players (Zedkins Members) and which includes living quarters as well as ample space for shops and markets to ensure a lot of people frequenting the Region and make it a lively town. In addition to that, several community buildings would incentivise new as well as old players to take up residence.
To ensure a nice looking town, there would be style guides and unfinished / abandoned buildings would be removed. In addition to that, the building styles that are encouraged, would be modern skyscrapers in the north and medieval looking houses in the south. This is supposed to create an interesting balance in building styles, but still be coherent in the direct neighborhood. This Balance comes back to the region's name: Zen.
Community Buildings
The Districts
Zen is split up in different districts. Each district has a different purpose and different building guidelines. The space in between districts is used for community buildings and infrastructure.
[ Non-adherence to the style guides, Vendor Regulations as well as other offences will be discussed in the Zedkins meetings and notices of removal of buildings or requests of changes will be posted via signs on the buildings as well as the owners being notified if possible. ]
How the non-adherence to the style guides and Vendor Regulations as well as other offences are handled is described in the Zen Guidelines. If you want to build in Zen, you are required to read those as well as the Style Guide for the District you want to build in.
District 1
District 1 can be found north of the Zedkins Hall, via the bridge and going past the community farm. It's supposed to be a friendly start area for new players.
Style Guide
- Height Limit y=90
- maximum claim size: 12x12 blocks
- Underground use: Not lower than y=17 and not extending further than the claim.
- Style: Most Styles allowed, Should be a house of some sort, no giant cobble blocks ect.
- Finish building your house in a timely manner.
District 2 "Downtown"
District 2 is the most modern, northern part of Zen.
District 3 "Pinevale"
Soon to be more space for shops, once a Style Guide has been decided on.
(Probably similar to the District 4 one, but with a "Colonial Americas" theme)
Style Guide (beta)
- Height Limit: y= 85
- Plot Size Limit : 16x16 blocks
- Underground use: Not lower than y=17 and not extending further than the claim. (Accessible shop space should be realistic)
- Style: "Colonial Americas" Something between 1700 and 1900, if you're not sure google Georgian Colonial Architecture, but you can also branch off into Dutch, Vitrorian or neoclassical colonial, or even better, do some more research on your own :) )
- A sign with show owner's name and an overview about what they sell(for example "ent. books" , "Potions", "Wood" , "Nether Items" ect) in front of their shop
- Finish your building (including putting up actual shop chests)
District 4 "Merchant Quarter"
The Merchant Quarter is a medieval styled area for people to build their shops. The street will lead into an harbor and maybe one day we'll see some ships visiting our town! Here's a list of whom owns each shop and what they sell.
Style Guide
On Land
- Height Limit y=80 (can be higher on the hill area near Distr. 3. Ask Zedkins member for guidance)
- maximum claim size: 16x16 blocks
- Underground use: Not lower than y=17 and not extending further than the claim.
- Style: Medieval Town, not more than 1 or 2 underground shopfloors (keep it "realistic"). Detailed and pretty buildings encouraged. If you can't build "pretty" ask someone to help or ask Zedkins if there are any empty shops ready to move in.
- A sign with show owner's name and an overview about what they sell(for example "ent. books" , "Potions", "Wood" , "Nether Items" ect) in front of their shop
- Finish your building (including putting up actual shop chests)
On Sea
- Height limit: y = 80
- maximum claim size: 20x10 blocks (if more needed, ask a Zedkins member for additional personal review)
- There must be water between the boat and the ground (no underground use)
- Style: Any kind of boat before the invention of steam engines (Try to fit the medival style)
- Ask a Zedkins Member to open a shop.
District 5
District 6
District 7 "Spring Lake"
Vendor Regulations
As decided in Zedkins:
- Full Guidelines and Regulations can be found in the Zen Guidelines
- Shops should be regularly checked and stocked. Avoid cutting prices if you can't uphold your stock.
- Until the Market Hall is finished, you may own a stall at the market and a shop in district 4 if the items sold in the stall do not fit to your store thematically or you already own one.
