This page highlights some ways you can improve your Minecraft experience without altering gameplay or giving yourself an advantage when playing on a multiplayer server. It is not an exhaustive list; it only highlights some of most impactful, updated and well maintained mods.
You can also check out the Minecraft Performance page.
For more examples you can also check out this list of alternatives to Optifine, however please note you should not install any mods which provide an advantage or provide features which replace vanilla item functionality (Zoom or dynamic lighting, for example). Optifine is not recommended.
Mods
The Fabric Mod Loader with the following mods are recommended:
- Dark Loading Screen
- Clear Skies
- No Fog
- Continuity (Connected textures - requires Indium if using Sodium)
- CITResewn (Required for Custom Item Textures)
- FarSight Allows client side visual rendering of distant chunks
These may need some customisation, or are otherwise not compatible with other recommended mods:
- Indium (required for some mods to work with Sodium)
- Iris (Not compatible with Sodium)
- Canvas Renderer (not compatible with Sodium)
