Despite the last few meetings having been a little quiet, what with most people being 'social' around Christmas and New Years (strange people), we're back in business to start 2019 with fresh vigor!

Zen Decorations

While we didn't cover Zen in Christmas spirit this year (it takes ages to clean out the eggnog stains), we did sprinkle some snow here and there, and our first topic questions when the chilled coating should thaw.

While some members advocated for it to be immediately covered in a fine layer of cobble, it was agreed that the snow should stay put until around March, so as to reflect the colder season currently still in swing over Europe, at least. After that, we shall be initiating plan 'The1Thaw', which involves three flint lighters, two diamond spades and a very, very large amount of cobble flowers.

The Topic Snick Had But Forgot About A Week And A Half Ago

Some scintillating stuff to start of the new year! Snickaaman mentions that he had a topic but forgot it by the time the pre-agenda was up. We spent a while discussing how the pre-agenda could be better handled, and reach the conclusion that, technically, it could put up straight after the meeting, and then bumped up nearing the time of the next meeting.

Zed also recommended that if a Zedkin has a topic and sees that the pre-agenda isn't up yet, they could always put it up themselves.

Wiki-Stuff

The prior topic led to talk on whether the Zedwiki - specifically the Zedkins page - is being kept up to date. Mellori, whom seems to now be referring to himself in third person, said that he usually updates the Zedkins and related pages around the time he puts up the seconds, but that he's neglected to do so in the past month due to the hectic festivities rudely disrupting his perfectly organised days in a manner akin to a wild Jasmyn amongst a 'volunteer' work force.

We also discussed the Zedkin Strike system, which is currently recorded on a google doc. Zed suggested that it could be made more accessible by using the wiki, but we decided that the google doc suits it's purpose, and that Strikes are best kept in-house so as not to air dirty cobble.

Note by Treiskaideka: That mentioned doc is only a way for myself to take notes, I was wondering if you should make *that* one public but decided against it because I don't want anyone manipulating it. (If a Zedkins member, maybe scribe or director, wants to see it, contact me) Strikes & attendance are supposed to be noted down in the Seconds, and strikes listed on the Member list on the forum/wiki, if in doubt ask the director how many strikes you have currently.

Shop-Plugin

Unfortunately, the shop plugin did not fully survive the update to 1.13, and Zed has been waiting for a few issues to be worked out by the developer relating to the existing shop data not deleting properly. If the developer doesn't fix the issue, Zed has described in detail the steps he could take to update, which may involve players needing replace the signs on their shops at some point, if he does take that route. The Zedkins voted unanimously for a quick as possible update even if that means people would have to redo all their shops, Zed will take that opinion into account for his decision.

Nothing is set in stone at the moment, and Zed assures us he'll inform people of what's happening, before it happens - a good way to keep up with news is to watch for Join Message Announcements on Zz, updates on the forums, or even reading these very here seconds!

/Home is Where the Heart is

A reoccurring topic throughout the years has resurfaced once more, as we discuss (plead to Zed) our want for the return of /home.

For those of you who don't know, /home was a command you could use to instantly return to the place where you /sethome, in a manner similar to a more instantaneous region post. It didn't survive an update, a couple of years ago, and hasn't returned since, though is often joked about - even having a monument in Zen.

Zed, in his usually Zeddy ways, deflects the topic (we'll get 'im one day!) and calls attention to the updates planned for the region post plugin, which may negate the want for /home to return. We've covered this in previous seconds, but I shall do a quick overview.

The speculated region post update will allow for easier use of posts, using a GUI of maps, akin to a chest, I believe. You would simply slap a region post, then click one of the maps you have to teleport to that map's region post. To gather maps for regions, you would first visit the region, craft the map in some way related to the post, then 'learn' it, There will be ways to share maps and naming regions will be much easier, perhaps not requiring Zesty anymore.

If you want to know more about the planned updates, you should ask Zed, or keep an eye on the forums, as I'm sure he'll be asking for volunteers to bug test nearer release. Zed has reassured us that no changes will happen straight away, and that there'll be ample warning and opportunity for feedback.

World Border

As our final topic, we had a quick discussion on accessing new, 1.13 content, and also mansions and the like. Zed commented that he may be willing to temporarily drop the border completely at some point, making use of a script similar to The End to delete and regenerate land outside the border. This would allow for exploration and retrieval outside of the border, but not for base building, as any work would be undone over time. This would not be a permanent solution, and Zed is still working on his script to renew oceans and land within the border's walls.
