Banned from LVS but don't know why

Postby Topazh » Fri Jun 29, 2018 6:55 pm

Hello there!

To start off: Sorry if I'm double posting, made a thread 3 days ago at the time I was banned but it has yet to show up so figured there has to be something wrong.

On to the topic at hand: I was playing on the LVS server a few days ago, I'm a new player and just started building my first house in a really nice spot I found in the riverbend area. Durning my playing session I got, from my point of view, suddenly banned out of the blue for "griefing" which I certainly did not do! At least not to my knowledge. I've read through all the rules clearly beforehand and I cannot think of any reason for this ban I recieved, most of all I'm just sitting here feeling confused. So I'm honestly thinking there's been some sort of a mistake going on here, if I'm incorrect please do point out to me what I did wrong cause I have no idea. :I

Now I'll go over the activities that took place in the minutes before my ban and get to what is my only logical conclusion at the end: Looking forward to setting up my base and starting to make some friends I decided to head over to another player who was asking if anyone wanted to check out their incinerating machine they were working on. They had placed 2 chests, that from what I could tell had one line of hoppers leading into a pool of lava, the other going into a third chest. Curious about this device my fellow player was showing off I decided to put a piece of gravel in each chest and see where they would go. As expected I heard a fizzle coming from the lava as one of the blocks was burned up, curious to see if my other block had ended up in the output chest of the machine I opened it, and upon finding my block of gravel in there, took it back out.

The player making the machine said they needed a minute to finish it, so I decided to go off to find some decorations for the house I was working on. I ran around riverbend for a little bit until I found a large area of forest that was uninhabited (as far as I could see at least, no torches in the area at all so it was pitch black since it was in the middle of the night). I saw some flowers, picked a few yellow ones, some red, some pink, and started to move back to my house, but just a few seconds after picking the last flower I was kicked off and banned for griefing.

Now, all I can think of in terms of why I was banned would be either I was accidentally in someone elses area (although it was in the middle of the forest where nobody was building and there were no torches around - aka they had an underground base) and I was automatically detected for breaking blocks (flowers) in their area. Or, I was detected removing items from another player's chest (the one gravel block I sent through the machine) and as such banned for that action somehow?

-----

So to conclude it all: I'd be very interested to know the actual reason for my ban, and if I actually did something to break the rules, I take full responsibility for that action and deeply apologize for any damage I have caused! Otherwise, I'd humbly ask if I could be allowed back on the server again? Banned or not, I had a great time playing on the server, and thank those people who were nice enough to help me get started!

Thank you for you detailed appeal. We have an offline automatic banning system which detects when a new player breaks a block that they did not place. I suspect that you have fallen foul of this. I will unban you. Please reread our rules, and welcome back. If you were in jail when you were banned, then you might have to be online when either Zed or I are online so we can release you.
