Hey all.

I'm not totally sure I will be able to make this meeting. I have an event earlier in the day, and I have no idea if I may be able to attend afterwards.

However, I do have a topic I'd like to be discussed, but this can likely be discussed on the forums. If the next host wishes to leave it for the next meeting to give you something to talk about other than "aNY NeWs aBouT 1.14?!", then feel free to leave it 'til then.

AlyCat recently was given her last strike, meaning she is now off the council. Aly logged on shortly afterwards, having missed the meeting. I'm told that the whole GMT/BST time zone thing is confusing for our US players, which is why she missed the meeting. I believe Aly had the intention of attending the meeting; I think it would be a kind action to take her 3rd strike off and give her a second chance. After all, the council is not exactly full with council members at the moment, and meetings are kind of quiet anyway.

I checked the Zedwiki, and for many of the past meetings the times have still been listed as 8PM GMT, which is incorrect. I have since changed it to BST (GMT +1) to ensure it is correct for the future. However with this, I would like to propose a possible change to the !nextmeeting command. Would it be possible to show GMT/BST (simply in text beside the time) to make it easier for the non-UK players?
Example: !nextmeeting - Saturday 29 June, 08:00 PM GMT/BST
Alternatively, a !uktime command, which tells the current time of the UK (most, if not all events on the server are based off the UK time)

Thanks,

Being a U.S. player I can confirm it is very confusing, even if you know the correct times. It's taken me upwards of a year to get used to the UK times, and even then the couple weeks that is four hours (instead of the usual five) hours ahead of me is so confusing to me I will usually miss Zedwork events left and right. I'll check the time conversion on google upwards of 10 times a day on the day of a meeting.

Well I've got it easier living only one timezone away, but I still get it confused sometimes. So I can see the mistake happen and in this case it had an unfortunate consequence.

My voice in the topics is that we either,
Cut Aly some slack and keep her strikes on 2 but require her to participate in the next meeting or give her a third strike (apology or not),
Or we kick her from the council according to our rules, and she has a chance to be voted in again in the next meeting (unless there is a rule against that?).

My vote probably would go to the second option. Failing to count for the timezone difference is one thing and It's probably acceptable in certain circumstances. For instance, should a member be late because they forgot 8 pm meeting isn't 8 pm at home but it's actually 7 pm and thus be an hour late for the meeting, I would accept the mistake. But In this case the entire meeting was missed, thus not only forgetting the timezone difference, but also forgetting the meeting itself.
I might be wrong here though as I'm not in a similar timezone issue.

For anyone wondering, bar any last minute big bugs being found: 1.14.3 is set for release at some point next week. Yesterday we had the last pre-release which should have fixed the item frames disappearing and hopefully other entity vanishing problems, there was also a nasty bug of item frames crashing people which should now be fixed...

We can only cross our fingers and hope that when 1.14.3 is released, there isn't a plethora of new game breaking bugs.

I believe Aly deserves some slack, I don't see why we need to be harsh on the rules when the council is in a lull at the moment. Considering she logged on right after the meeting, I'm sure she did intend to be there but wasn't able to make it.

I also would like to echo the !servertime (or whatever the command would be) suggestion, that would help a lot when it comes to time zone confusion (especially during DST) further down the line, especially for newer players. I don't know how much effort it would take to code in but I am sure I would use it quite a bit myself.

As for the "WhAt AbOuT 1.14?!" part... let's not talk about this please... It's been said so many times, for so many updates...

Hello all,

In case nobody's seen it, Mojang have in fact released 1.14.3 today (new launcher and all!), so I'm sure this gives us all an excuse to pester His Lordship at the next meeting. Just saying...

I am also thinking of raising the question of the Ocean Regeneration thing that was brought up a while back. Please tell me if this has fallen by the wayside or not.

Many thanks,
Dave.

I'm fairly certain that Zedwick will let us know when he intends to update the servers. Let's not pester him like children in a car wondering If we are there yet.

Don't make me turn this server around and head back to 1.12.2!
