How to take screenshots

How to take screenshots

Postby anonny » Tue Feb 19, 2013 6:30 pm

Hello,

I was wondering what software people use to take screenshots. The reason for this post is two-fold:

1. I would like to screenshot for posting builds on the forum.

2. I would also like to protect myself against grief/hacks. Lolageispower was subject to grief recently and did a great job with his report thanks to the evidence provided by his screenshots.(I hope its ok to mention this)

Im sure its quite simple, however I would like to know if there are better programmes out there than others and so forth...

Thanks a lot guys

To take a screenshot press "F2" on your keyboard. (if you have it). If you don't then try the "prt scr" (Print screen) button on your keyboard. The F2 screenshots get put inside the .minecraft folder. In screenshots if I'm correct. If you take a pic with "prt scr" or whatever... then you must paste the photo inside another program like "paint".
I hope this is not confusing and that it will help you.

Some other things, if you hit F1 first, then you hide all the stuff you don't want to see in screen shots.

*also* go to the blog and submit some after.

-Do you know how to get to the screen shots on your machine? If not let me know.

Thanks for the tips guys,

Hyl: Rob said that the shots would be kept in the Minecraft folder? So I guess I just select the shots from there in order to post them? I will take some pics and try posting them sometime. The blog? Do you mean zed blog or yours Hyl?

Thanks again

Thanks guys,

I managed to take a few snaps yesterday from a hill outside of town. I also am trying to get some good ones of the harbour :) just have a little work to do on the crane first...it's too skinny!

Good stuff!

For other future readers wondering how to take screen shots, the above work as well as command + shift + 3 on mac, which will save to your desktop.

To access the .minecraft folder on mac

finder > go > hold option > library > application support > minecraft

Have fun capturing your builds!
