A little miffed

I logged on for the first time last night. After some confusion over an abandoned chest I was released from being unable to build and began to have some fun. I was mining underneath an unused mine and struck lucky with my first batch of (5?)diamonds pretty quickly. The tunnels I were working in were also connected to a mineshaft (trying to provide as much detail in order to help the modding process, but don't have any co-ords or anything). I said goodnight and logged off for the night.

When I've just tried logging back on it says "Disconnected by server... xray". Now this actually annoys me quite a bit as, not only was I not online at the time of this banning (I was having a good chat with a few mods just prior to logging off, so I wasn't even being investigated at the time), but I was not using an xray texture pack. I can only imagine that my quick batch of diamond has alerted a mod who has been scrolling through the logs or something. Let me re-iterate, the tunnels were already there so it was just a case of walking down some stairs to get to bedrock. I then made my own tunnels to mine with.

I'd very much appreciate if this ban could be lifted and, in future, if I could be consulted before sanctions like this are initiated so I can fully understand the reasons behind them. This is the first server I've played in a good while after being screwed over numerous times in my previous servers of choice at around the time of the 1.0 release. This seems like a nice place and I very much look forward to making progress and having fun with people along the way. But obviously I can't do so if I'm banned...

As I pointed out yesterday - the chest that you stole from had only been placed the day before, so was not "abandoned" as you put it. No were the tunnels. When I returned you build rights, I pointed out that it would be an instant ban if there were any other "offences"

From the logs I can see that the pattern of mining displayed are indicative of x-ray, whether it is on a texture pack or some other mod that will give you an extra benefit over other players.

I will not be lifting the ban.

Logs were indicative of xray? In what sense? In that I mined more ore than would be expected? Stone:Ore ratio? What?

Remember, I had found an abandoned mineshaft and this accounted for a good 70-80% of my ore finding (which was overall not that much anyway).

Should you lift the ban, I would happily guide you around the area to show you my activities and where I found what items.

The problem with the chest had already been sorted. The Guardians had already explained to me exactly what I did wrong and I went along with it because I recognized that I was in the wrong. I guess my no-rules server instincts just kicked in. In my nearly 3 years experience with minecraft I'm yet to find a server except for this that is so thorough with keeping jerks out and I really like that. Heck, I've even been in some servers that CONDONED fly hacking. wtf is up with that?

And don't think I'm arguing or being disrespectful, I'm not at all. I merely want this problem sorted so that I can continue playing on the server. I'm trying to put my side of this across as politely as I can but of course I still have to be somewhat firm so that my stance is understood. I apologize if I came across as rude.

Please guys, I really like this server despite only being a part of it for a very brief time. The first thing I was greeted by was a user giving me food, rather than the usual sword in the face that other servers greet me with. I very much wish to be a part of this community and looked forward so much to building and exploring with a tight-knit bunch of players who were not merely interested in diamonds or the strongest weapons.

I am sorry for the trouble I caused with the chest and openly admit to the wrong doing. I only wish I could better prove my innocence with the xray. In time I am sure I could prove my clean playing and I certainly hope you give me the chance to do so.

I'm not one to beg, but that's what I'm doing now. I request you please lift the ban and allow me to show my worth as a valued community member. Please

OK. I'll take your last post at face value. I will unban you, and I hope that you do become a valuable member of the community, offering advice and helping other players in need and building awesome structures.

We do have strict rules and values on Zedwork. No takey from any chest that isn't yours (except obvious mine chests). No griefing. if you find a house that you feel is abandoned, please check with a Guardian. We do not allow rifling other players chests or destroying their builds, just because you feel it is abandoned. Players leave and come back months later, so we like to keep everything as it was. We have been running the server like this for just under a year now, and our players like it that way.

There will be no third chance, and should you step out of line again, retribution will be instant as that is the way we work. You have the opportunity to appeal here on the forum. Ingame is not the place. Please ensure that you read the books when you get back on the server, if they are not there type /rulebook get.

Also you will have to start from scratch as everything has been rolled back and your inventory emptied and destroyed.
