The Official ZedWork Texture Pack

The Official ZedWork Texture Pack

Postby RobRawr » Sun Mar 17, 2013 4:12 pm

Hello, everybody. Hello!
I'm creating a texture pack for ZedWork, but I need your help!
In the comments you can tell us what would you like to see in our texture pack, what resolution and what theme would you like the texture pack to be! AND you can design and share your block/item designs with us!
Who knows? Maybe your texture will be part of the pack!

I can't wait to hear all your amazing ideas!

You got any idaes of your own Rob, might be easier to think if you gave us a little bit more. The theme is just too big in all.

Oh do you know how to make the watches and compass still work, I would appreciate that too.

Well as you know Rob I like the medevil style, so I would opt for a john Smith's style texture pack myself. The things I like about it are the different textured wood types, the relitive similarity (but still different) looks of the stone, cobble and bricks.
I like this pack since there are many different looking blocks but they all follow a similar theme...even mossy blocks tend to blend well with other stone blocks, making randomisation and material variety easy to do.

The only warning i would give is to watch out for the wool...some texture packs offer cool looking blocks in place of useless wool colours like pink for example. However a pink wool block used as thatch on a roof looks wack to other players who don't have the same pack lol....

I like the idea man, keep it up and I look forward to seeing what you come up with. Unfortunately I have no experience in creating textures so i will be of little use to you in that capacity...

Edit: Oh and a 64/64 res would be nice :)

I would suggest keeping the textures similar in style/appearance as the original textures. They should look as they would to anyone using the default texture pack, but better ;) So wools should remain as wool, cobblestone should remain as cobblestone etc.

Otherwise, I am in full support of having an official community produced texture pack :)
I say we should not just mix and match from other texture packs, but have it all created by the talented members of Zedwork ^_^

Fully supported by Pumpkin Region
-Hyl stamp of approval-

..common theme and likely creator for all of the same type of block is crucial. The flow of all the textures together seamlessly is more important than the appearance of any one block. And touching on what Zedwick mentioned, every block should be clearly recognizable as it's normal texture equivalent. Good luck all of you, and thanks :D

So let's just say - The default texture pack, but with a twist, 32x32, 64x64 and 128x128 res., little bit realistic and probably some animations. Sounds good? I think of making the textures of the blocks look like they actually have shape (Example: It actually looks like the cobblestone has rocks on it, shadows and all. Hard to explain). Okay?

Maybe make a sample texture for one block to show what you mean, Rob? Maybe stone or cobblestone.

Could any of you please be so kind and create a texture for dirt? lol. I've made like 10 different dirt styles, but none of them look good.
