I do like the idea of main lines of the new horse highway being on a set level with personal walkways on lower levels. It would keep the main lines cleaner and easier to navigate. If we get a bunch of personal lines crossing the main line it will quickly become a mess.

Anyone have opinions on the material and lighting for the main line. I know we dont need light in there but it would make it look nicer. I'm thinking we should just stick with cobblestone just to keep the bulk of the build cheaper and less time consuming. If we want to change it to a nicer material we can do that a little at a time as people decide to do it.

I think it wound be okay, if the end of a personal staircase to the level would be connected with a personal tunnel on the NN level, if it won't get too much. Maybe we could make it manatory to ask befor building more than the few blocks on the NN level, whicH would be necessary tO only connect it from under the level?
( I probably don't make much sense. I mean any building of longer tunnels would be needed to be addressed with the people in charge, so it won't become a maze, but you can connect personal staircases to the existing tunnels anytime.)
So everything on the level of 120 and higher would belong to the NN and be organised centrally.
what you do under that, is your thing.
And you can connect your thing everywhere where it doesn't obstrucut anything, as long as it is safe an big enough?
But it would be preferred to ask before to benefit the network by adding the X and z coords tunnels where it would be best for the NN?

Limiting where people build is impossible. We can't exactly own the top layer of the nether, even if it is in the name of a community project. Pretending to have that sort of jurisdiction will inevitably lead to conflict.

I think limiting the project to building the fancy main grid would be best.
Building a Main Grid will be hard enough, even without trying to police how others build their personal tunnels. Players can choose to connect to it or not, be inefficient or not, and generally just be independent. The best we can do is build a main infrastructure for them to use. Together with the incentive of the existing system, a style guide would focus the chaotic "player needs" tunnels towards making the Main Grid into a real network.

Yes well, I guess we can only ask people to look how they can be most efficient.

So I guess we can all agree to have a map of the system. (So any addition by player would be most wellcomed to be somehow notified) That'd be point one.

Point two would be the style guide. My main concerns are safety and usability. So any connected tunnel must be
a certain size,
have real stairs,
enclosed and ghast safe,
ideally good to use with animals on a lead
and be labled with signs at any intersection.
Also, ideally the wish for it to be left alone (signs or better a notification to someone. we should totally get a mail box for that(maybe region mail)) or else we can 'upgrade' it and maybe make it a 'real' part of the NN someday or maybe also add sth/move it a bit(!) if it would be logical, reasonable or necessary because of an expantion ect.

I'd suggest to mark every unsafe tunnel with signs and (wood) doors, so you dont accidentally jump off into a lava lake with the horse you wanted to sell.

But still any big modification, especially regarding the rails/redstone to the main tunnels would be grief, wouldn't it?
And of course like removing big bits without reason, blowing stuff up or placing lava are obviously grief.

Mabye when we started, we could build some examples, as how people could ideally build the tunnels and stairs?


So, I do hope we could agree to these first two points?

P.S: Maybe then update the style guide later, when we started the first main line and know the 'fancy design' so we can give guidelines.

And remember: The whole project is basically a guideline as how one can use a thing build by and for the community. I can only appeal to everyone to be fair, so that everyone can have a nice time.

I took a look at this(https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1cU3xCnYEaPFccCPD0B0nZZ7WDUMd4ZeWr9PT4dVWh9s/edit#gid=0)
and would suggest 3 lines for the start:

One long from Diamond9 to Vine Which would cross a lot of the newest regions of the last year, (alternatively one region closer to 0 0) including the future wither farm near oxfordia Fortress (where shaw also built the old one)That one would be in reasonable distance to rio, too

Then crossing that at Lantern9 up to sheeps would be close to freewood, sandibay, pumpkin

and then crossing this one at about ore1, would lead to waterfall and obsidian (short distance)

of course all the coords would need to be converted into nether coords.

Nether Cords are east to figure out. Simply take the Over World X and Z and divide by 8, then round to the nearest whole number.

OK, I have gotten my personal pathway reconstructed and the mine cart line with the selectable stations is built. Anyone that wants to check it out can go to the Tower Region Post and walk through the Nether Portal that at the post. The area is claimed so you won't be able to do much at all but you can see how the buttons and stations are set up. If you catch me online just ask to come see it and I'll give you permissions so you can use the system (and get your mine cart back, lol).

I think this system would be more usable on the LVS server because you can't TP between the region posts. If people on LVS like this system I would be happy to come over there with you guys and build one of the stations and then you just need to copy the design for all the stations you want. I would just need someone to give me supplies, redstone, redstone torches, and redstone repeaters, rails, powered rails, a couple detector rails, buttons, and cobblestone to use under all the redstone parts so you can actually see the redstone as opposed to it hiding on nether rack. Also if you give me some signs i can place them to notate what parts of the circuit do what to make it easier to understand.

So I have the Vine portal and stairs in place. I even put some battlements in the stairways in case there are others like me who just cant pass up a chance to kill a ghast. I also have a portal for tower (one region past Vine) and Bluewaters ( one region before Vine). Since all 3 of these portals need to be around level 30 ish of the nether I plan to use the stairs for Vine to get down and then build a protected tunnel from Vine to Bluewaters and Tower to save a tone of building materials. It will take half the material to build the 100 block long tunnel and one of the stair cases to these portals.

*Edit: I also added Summit8 onto this stairway too because the portal was already there and only 50 blocks from Tower.
