Keep 1.7.9 - 1.7.10

Would it be possible to keep the 1.79 and or 1.7.10.

I heard some players say that they wouldn't be able to play here anymore as they have a slow computer. As most of you should know by now that the 1.8 was laggy and the 1.81 was supposed to fix this greatly. I had to shorten my viewing distance and reduce a lot of other settings, I won't know the full extent of this until I get back on to the server.

Also it seems there is no standard or lyte version of the 1.8 optifine, unless it has still to be released (I could be wrong tho). As this could be an issue for many players I thought I would ask on their behalf.

Optifine is well into 1.8 versions, just have a look at the website

I know but they are all ultra versions which are meant for better computers, there are b and c versions of the 1.81 but i didn't notice any difference.

I have a slow computer, and I got an Ultra version. That still really helps, I turn off loads of stuff and I can now get 30-40 fps. Much better than before, where I had 10-20 fps. 30 if high in the sky above an ocean.

I seem to remember most of the lag was not frame rate either, getting block lag and such things instead.
[EDIT] Just installing optifine does pretty much... Well, nothing. You need to use it to turn off all the laggy things, like animations, particles etc before you get an improvement. And fog, get rid of that. Looks bad and slows you down too. You can turn rain off too, just takes a bit of looking. Note it will still be raining, just you can't see it.

Also make sure "VBO" is turned on, helped me a bunch
