Just a question on chests.

Hello, I've just been looking through the ban appeals and I couldn't help but notice the amount of people who have been banned for taking things out of a chest that wasn't theirs. Now since I let people live in, or near my base (some just outside it) I have the problem of them sometimes leaving storage in the way due to them using the materials inside the chest for a build (or did and haven't moved it), some of the newer people have even just left all their stuff in a chest, and in some cases has been in the way. My question: Is it acceptable to move somebodies chest so long as I don't permanently take their stuff?

I have moved chests around my place that people have carelessly just left lying around, but I've done it to help. For example, LuckyCharizard's chest was at the top of a Hill which needed flattening, so I moved his chest, and made sure everything that came out of his chest went back into it, I even put the sign back on it saying letter for letter what it did before I moved it.

I do always look out for signs saying that they are planning on building something (which I haven't found yet thankfully XD). I am planning on moving people's chests (around my place) to 1 specific area, I will make it clear to them where they will be moved to. This is just to make the place a bit clearer. I just thought I'd ask this question in case I was breaking any Server rules, after all I haven't stolen anything and always put the stuff back in the chest and I don't plan on moving the chests no more than meters away. To be fair.. Ive done this as well.

When players start to build close to me but then disappear from the server, I tend to relocate their stuff to a more suitable location. With a sign ofcourse

It can be dangerous to just start moving people's stuff without their consent, though simple things on your land may not be much of a problem. There will not be any kind of auto-ban for doing this, but if a complaint comes in we may then need to look into it. It doesn't sound like you should be expecting any complaints for just moving temporary chests out of the way, but you should be conscious of how understanding these players may be to find their items relocated.

This would be the kind of situation where we'd ask you to find a compromise with the player to return/relocate their items back to their original position or a suitable location you can both agree on if they would complain. Y'know, just be understanding of each others wants/needs/whatnot.

Ok thanks, I did always check to see if the chest was put there for a reason, or if it was just simply there to store someone's stuff. Some of the people haven't been on for a long time which could cause a problem but ok thanks for the replies.
