Griefing?

Hello,

Just found this server new to Minecraft servers played for about an hour, got some food from the spawn farm, replanting as I went.

All was going well exploring some caves and mining came across someones undeground complex tried to replace the blocks I had broken (two blocks) from a wall (mined in before I knew what it was) and was banned from griefing, thought I was doing well, being respectful just trying to find an area for myself.

I hope this is a mistake?
