[LVS/ZZ] Future skyblock event!

[LVS/ZZ] Future skyblock event!

Postby Dax23333 » Sat Nov 19, 2016 10:58 pm

Hello people of the servers!

I have a plan... a wonderful, evil plan. We are (on a date yet to be confirmed) going to play a pvp minigame in the sky above lvs. But how will this work without pvp being on you ask? Well, you'll have to get creative.

The format for this will be a skyblock start for each player. Each island will have a bed that its occupant must set thier spawn in. To be knocked out of the game your bed must be broken/obstructed so that you do not spawn on the island.
Unusually for lvs this game would involve raiding other players islands and killing them to death. Be aware of this before entering, you will probably be killed.

Players will start with an empty inventory on thier island. Islands will be spread out some distance away from each other so bridges to get to other players must be built.
The start island would consist (roughly) of the following:
-Small island with stone, grass, dirt, sand, a tree and some gravel. Maybe some ore too. And a bed, which you must set your spawn in before the game starts.
-A chest containing a water and lava bucket, a melon, a few oak saplings, a cactus and some bonemeal.

Naturally this would feature fabulos prizes.

Anyway, does anybody have any opinions on this potential event, how this plan could be improved or any other things?

Sounds interesting, I will probably participate once you put a date on it, one suggestion from me might be to have more than one lavabucket per player or the first death/ lava turning into obsidian will render you almost completely helpless.
Or outlaw the use of lavabuckets completely.
Who would've thought that the pigman's suggestion would be MORE LAVA!

A good suggestion, I think that would improve the game as your lava bucket would be the primary weapon and any failed attack would lead to its loss, and the game reducing to spleef on a narrow bridge.

Although this would deviate it even furthur from the traditional skyblock I do not think this is a bad thing, as I do want all players to survive to the raiding state and have fun, rather than destroying all hope of thier progress with a single slip up. This is the reason for multiple saplings too, usually you would start with a tree. If no saplings drop, you might as well give up there.

I'm loving this idea :D

Although personally I would stick to one lava bucket, yes there is a risk but there are also ways to avoid this completely by simply have your lava source 1 block higher that the water source. I have taken part in a few skyblock events and love the challenge they bring.

Heyyo Dax, I wanted to suggest something that may make this a tiny bit easier for everyone involved.

Although it is a great idea to do it in LVS, and in Blutopia, I do think we should do it on a seperate server.
Why?
Because:
1) If players who wish to participate have projects going on, they cannot enter / cannot work on them during the event, which can really drain precious time out of projects.
2) It would also be easier for the Zriend Community, because, as you suggested it, it seems like the Zriends will provide all of the resources, and that won't be cheap and easy for anyone to enter.
3) PvP on LVS with Lava isn't really PvP, isn't it?

What is the solution then, Amir? Why do you say stuff isn't good without a way to fix it?!

Okay, okay mate, chill.
I do think that this Sky Block event is a great and fun idea, but I'm here to suggest a way to make it even better.
How? Well, that's pretty easy, in my opinion.
I can develop a map for the seperate server, that can fit a maximum of islands for players of as much as you want it to hold, and will have all the resources for a good Sky Block event. (Also, there can be actual PvP there..)
I've already talked to Zedwick about it, and he said that it could be made, although we need to talk to him first if we do go with this idea.

Again, this is just a suggestion, that could make everyone's life a bit easier during this whole event..

Okay, I think this is it!

I agree, having it on a seperate server would be good. It need not be complex, simply have the world spawn point in the spectator area and if you are in it you've lost. Having proper pvp would be good too.

Letting people drop in and out would not work either way, if it is on lvs or a seperate server. Players would still be left behind while others progressed and the game would be lost for them. It won't last hours and hours and hours, depending on how agressive people are it will probabl end fairly quick.

Regarding the recources, they are really very insignificant so can be easiliy supplied. Just a stack of stone and half a stack of grass per player, plus a few buckets which are produced in vast quantity by the iron farm.

I will try to talk to zed about this when I next see him online.

When I mentioned lava turning to obsidian I didn't mean on your own island making a generator, I meant during combat it can quickly happen that one player manages to put water next to your lava and you are out of the game. Remember that the bucket of lava is almost your only weapon, without it you would have to break cobblestone under someones feet with a low tier pick to kill someone, which is impossible if that person pays only the slightest attention.
