From Zedwiki

Ready Zeddy Go!

Ready Zeddy Go! was a gameshow event hosted by Memery on December 2nd, 2020. As part of the series of Wednesday events between LVS and ZZ and following on from the success of the first event, Memery joined forces with Spectatre again to create a series of challenges for the gameshow. With a brand-new studio set up in Anzard, two teams battled it out for final glory with the broadcast going live worldwide via twitch.

Teams

Pumpkins: OGBen_, SooprJ, Dave5400, jelmer8090 with captain TheMrPayne
Melons: Mellorian, iij2000x, MasterBoy289, Jasmyn01 with captain Dax23333
Studio Audience: Zedwick
Once everyone was in their gear Zedwick did some lovely magic to give everyone proper pumpkin and melon heads, and the game was underway!

Round One

ROUND ONE was a quiz game where teams took it in turns answering questions to reveal pieces of a grid pieces, in the hopes of correctly guessing what crafting recipe it was revealing. As this round from the previous episode was done in a matter of four or five questions, the difficulty was turned up a few notches, and each team now had their own grids to try and solve. Melons managed to guess both of their grids, while Pumpkins were beset upon by many cobble craftings, solving one.

This was also the first official use of the Anvil of Shame, dropped onto iij who tried to take advantage of the Slime Bonus when the doors were shot :O

Score, Round 1: PUMPKINS 15 - MELONS 21

Round Two

ROUND TWO was a form of hide and seek - both teams had one minute to hide in the area of Anzard, and then avoid detection for four minutes. Points were up for grabs for any survivor. While this was meant to be literal, as Mem and Spec were both armed with rocket crossbows, it turns out Mojang had apparently patched that at some point, so the rockets did not do any harm. Only slightly deterred by not getting to murder everyone, they proceeded, simply announcing with their words when someone had been found. At the end of the time, a few remained from each team and everyone returned for the final round.

Round Three

ROUND THREE had All Of The Points up for grabs in a mad series of mini-challenges.

The first team challenge was an Itsy Bitsy Buildoff - with a series of words to choose from, one person from each team picked one, without knowing what it could mean. They were shortly given some stone blocks, access to a stonecutter, and three minutes to build a statue for that word. Everyone built at once, and at the end of the time each person had one sentence to prove why their statue beat their opponents.

Word - Pumpkin - Melon (Winner in bold)
Guardian - Payne - Jas
Bird - Soopr - iij (declared a draw)
Thong - Ben - Dax (Dax was originally given the points as Ben had built the wrong sort of thong, but after a successful guilt-trip this was overturned
Dog - (none) - MasterBoy - with uneven numbers, all MasterBoy had to do was impress. Luckily he did, or this would've been dead awkward
Cat - Dave - Mell

A series of team challenges followed:

  • Teams were given three minutes to have any member of their team gain any advancement. There was a little hesitation, and iji tried to bring in a new player to the team (which was rejected), but with a few seconds to spare Ben had managed to craft a how and plant some seeds, gaining the advancement A Seedy Place, and securing points for the Pumpkins. After that, teams got an update on the scores, showing pumpkins had gained ground.

Scores - PUMPKINS 31 - MELONS 34

  • Teams were given buckets of lava and tasked with killing eachother. Unsurprisingly it was over fairly quickly - Melons had two people left standing after burning Payne to death, though Pumpkins were also given some points on account of having fewer players.
  • Teams had three minutes to use pumpkins/melons to make their way across and up an expanse of lava - they didn't have enough to get them across in one go, so strategy and care was needed. Melons took an early lead, and managed to gain first place even with an impressive late-on surge from their opponents. The Pumpkins then did manage to get all their team across with seconds to spare
  • Teams had to dive one by one into a 4x4 grid of water - when they landed, that water block was filled with a deadly buzzsaw. The team to fill their pool in the quickest gained the points; with only two blocks separating them, Pumpkins jumpkin'd to victory

The final task was storytime - each team had to tell a story, with each member saying one word at a time. Pumpkins went first, with two minutes to tell their story. Melons went second, but as they'd had "more time to think about it", they had less time to work.
Pumpkins went with a more traditional narrative, while Melons sought out the abstract in a fan favourite:
Pumpkin: There was a large dog who has never eaten a pumpkin pie. however, he has also licked a melon. When suddenly one mellonman, THE END
Melon: Cobble is one a happy one! Cobble is aware not of their stone majesty smooth and pristine beauty and the best federation blckl the girl and boys THE END
The pumpkins were declared the wordsmiths of the day.

Finally it was revealed that the winners of the Slime Bonus - both teams were invited to kill any Anzard Slimes they came across and put them into team barrels for extra points. With a total of 3 slimeballs, Pumpkins won this bonus.

Final Scores

With all the scores tabulated by Spec, a dramatic reveal showed an even more dramatic result - with a come-from-behind victory, Pumpkins had win the second episode of Ready Zeddy Go!
Final Score: PUMPKINS 55 - MELONS 49
They received glorious prizes, and the all-important bragging rights. Until the next round, anyway...?
