Topics

Second time in a row, all topics were on the pre-agenda! And the crowd goes wiiild

Topic 1: Elderz

This was discussed last meeting, with the wording posted in the pre-agenda to be voted on this meeting. Wording being: The five longest serving members (by order of the wiki page) present in the meeting form the Elders- they are empowered to maintain order, and are authorised to hand out strikes if there are violations of the code of conduct
Some absent members had registered their votes on the forum, but it was decided that the vote be delayed to the next meeting, so as to allow more members to be present for the vote. We discussed things a little; people both on the agenda and in the meeting had some reservations on how this would work, though those at the meeting generally did see an advantage in taking a few things off of the responsibility of the host. In any event, twenty minutes later we came to the same conclusion that the vote be delayed until next meeting.

Topic 2: Co-Hots

This was again a proposal from the last meeting, agreed wording as follows: Any member hosting a meeting can choose a co-host, to assist them in the running of the meeting. New members are encouraged to select a co-host to offer guidance during their first meeting. If a new member states a preference for a co-host, the Host of the meeting should gain a volunteer from members present

While we almost delayed this vote as well, it was then generally realised that this wasn't actually a proposal changing anything - co-hosts are a thing that has been happening informally for a while. This proposal just makes it explicitly allowed. With that in mind, this one did go to a vote, and was passed. Woo!

Topic 3: Christmas Dinner

Last meeting Zed mentioned that LVS would be hosting the annual Zedwork Christmas Dinner. He tasked the he and LadyB to come up with a date - we were to come up with a location to build the dining hall. They came to the meeting with a date and time - December 15th, 6pm. We...kinda forgot to come up with a location. Luckily, MasterBoy, Sway and SooprJ all vaguely suggested places we could use, while the rest of us juggled about themes and build ideas.

While council tried to nudge this to the forums; given deciding things at the next council meeting would give us less than a day to build everything, Zed tempted us back into decisiveness with field trips. We zoomed to Sway's location- the mansion that has previously hosted Halloween events. There was a dining table complete with guillotine in the middle. Very grand, if slightly morbid. MasterBoy and SooprJ's locations were both wide open snowy biomes, but Soopr's location snuck in under the line thanks to a nice little forest and coastal area. So, Soop's location was picked. Lots of people had fun ideas of what we could do with the area - for reasons best left to me I volunteered to run point and get all the ideas cobbled together into a group build. There's a forum thread clicky! for you to jot your ideas down. We got two weeks to build something that will make our ZZ visitors full both of festive joy and envy at our amazingness. More than they are already, if possible.

Topic 4: River Bend Mayor

As the second part of the mayor activity check, !lastseen was performed on Aravero, mayor of River Bend. As she has again not been one for over two weeks, she has been deemed inactive and removed as mayor of River Bend warp. This means the Mayoral election process begins anew for this warp!
Are you interested in running for mayor of this warp? Then head on down to the forum thread Mayor clicky! and register your interest. At the next council meeting, candidates that are sufficiently endorsed by council members will proceed to the public vote. Y'all got big shoes to fill.

Topic 5: Ender's Dragging

This was a sort of PSA from ABParadigm. Seemingly someone has summoned the Ender Dragon! Not an issue of itself, but apparently this is the first time it's happened since 1.14, and 1.14 has a bug that makes the end pillars regenerate in a weird and unsightly way. In theory the 1.15 bugfixes should correct that, and hopefully rectify the issue. Apologies in the interim for the slightly-weird end pillars!
At Zed's suggestion, please do not resummon the Ender Dragon for the time being until this bug resolves.

Announcementz

LVS migration - The hardware migration for LVS has gone well so far! The backend database still needs to migrate, and there's trouble configuring the firewall to work with Docker. He's not sure when this backend migration will happen, but when it does (and does it will), the whole Zedwork Network will be down for a day or two! I mentioned that that sure was a lot of words that probably meant something salient to tech-folk; Zed elaborated that Docker is a tool to manage a bunch of servers, which auto-configures the firewall to allow you to connect.
Migrating MySQL databases is really irritating; who knew!? Lots of LVS people, apparently.
Zedwork Christmas Dinner - 15th December, 6pm GMT. ZZ and LVS alike will come together and share in festive joy, in a building we'll have totally finished by then. :D
Casual Buildathon - 29th December, 4pm-9pm GMT
Maybe-another Buildathon - 25th December. Watch this space?

Nominations/Next Meeting

There were no nominations, and ABParadigm volunteered to host the next meeting. He bid me add a post-script , thusly - 'if you don't want to be eaten, sleep before the meeting'. Nothing suspicious about that at all. See you in two weeks! [small]Sleep tight o_o[/small]
