The Archivist is one of two unlockable bosses for Dungeon Dash and arguably the hardest fight the game has to offer. The Archivist posseses good mobility, a powerful offence and strong defences with 1000 hearts of health. He also has more complex and unpredictable AI than the other bosses.

Behavior description
Attack | Description | When Used | Comments |
---|---|---|---|
Weapon Swap | The Archivist swaps from axe to bow or back again, using the bow when players are far away and preferring the sword when they are close. | Random trigger | The Archivist will use the bow at close range, which can be a deadly surprise attack. |
Sheild Adjust | The Archivist adjusts his sheild ring to better protect himself from enemy arrows, or allow him to shoot over it. | When swapping weapons, phase 1 only. | When The Archivist is shooting at ranged the sheild ring will be lowered, giving adventurers a chance to return fire. |
Blast (Directional) | The Archivist slows down to summon a series of 4 magical explosions in a line towards a player. | When target is at short to mid range. | The blasts furthur away are more damaging and have a larger area of effect. In phase 2 of the fight this move gains the additional effect of spawning ability sapping clouds which force adventurers special abilities into cooldown. |
Blast (Area) | The Archivist summons a magical explosion on himself. | When target is very close. | This can happen very quickly and has the same strength and area of effect as the largest explosion in the directional blast. In phase 2 of the fight this move gains the additional effect of spawning ability sapping clouds which force adventurers special abilities into cooldown. |
Fireball Shower | The Archivist leaps into the air, launching a fireball directly downwards. He then glides down in a spiral pattern launching more fireballs below him. | Used immediatly on transition to phase 2, and when target is at close range in phase 2. | Generally rather inaccurate. |
Summon Minions | The Archivist summons a Banshee, Wraith, Ectoplasm and Ghoul around an adventurer. | When the target is at long to mid range. | The 4 minions summoned can be a major problem with the area effect clouds they emit on death. Targeting the Ghoul first can kill the other 3 immediatly. |
Teleport | Taunting adventurers, The Archivist teleports to thier position to continue the fight. | When target is far away. | The Archivist will not teleport to a place where he would suffocate. |
Room Desctiption
The Archivists room is a large library, featuring a large octagonal platform surrounded by a moat with 4 bridges across it. The fight starts in the centre of this area but can move to the outer area. A gravel fall at the entrance prevents escape once the fight has begun.
Strategy
The Archivist's room features four bridges around the main arena, leading to an outer walkway. This can be used to kite The Archivist to avoid his attacks, by running around the outer ring, using the bridges to go back to the main arena when needed.
Trivia
- Some players have drawn connections between Zed and The Archivist in appearance, but any such conspiracy has been denied vehemently.
